You create a Tournament/TG. Should kibbitzing be blocked by default?

This applies to the default. A TD is free to override this during creation or after creation.

I'm thinking that a default of 'no kibs' would help keep out some of the self-speccers....

Active scanning/searching for cheaters and banning them is far better.

I know a certain yellow that will not enter a tournament if kibs are blocked.

this is punishing the people that want to kib without cheating.

And them cheaters will find another place to do their thing, start their own table in main or host their own tournaments and continue.

Just try and catch em , when you do, let them in again after a year and look at their behaviour once they are back

What's the default when creating a new tournament is not of much importance - one can click another radio button easily.

What I am more worried about, is the fact that so many tournaments do not allow kibitzers. I know the problem - cheaters. But cheating can be done in more ways than by kibitzers.

For me, as a player, I dislike not being able to look at what happens in some tournament - I like walking around and have fun.

So my advice is to allow kibitzers always, except for money tournaments.

Then perhaps it is better to have "kibs allowed" the default, so that TD's won't forget to click that option :) .

I would love to see the option to either allow,  or disallow,  specific kibs.........

I believe that ACBL has this option, but it would be great if all tourneys had the default that "No Enemies" and "Exclude Custom List" refered to both players and kibs

Or at least allow directors to boot specific kibs, I am always suspicious of zzz12345 kibbers. It seemed like a good idea to allow genuine new visitors to have a look around before registering, but this is open to abuse/misuse

We have no way of knowing how common self-kibbing actually is, so paranoia prevails
