Why would you want double to be takeout anyway? You almost surely already have a 9 card fit, and you almost surely don't have an 8+ card fit in the unbid major, and partner almost surely couldn't pass a takeout double for penalties.

It's just a question of 4 or pass. I sort of like my chances against this contract, I don't want to go for a number if clubs break badly, and LHO may raise anyway on a weakish hand with heart support. I pass.

Chalk 3NT, 5, and double up to 'could work but are totally sick'.

Looks like a 5 or 3 hand to me.

I agree with pass as the sane action but bid 5 if I feel lucky or for sure if it's a long imp match. Puts fear and loathing into play for future competitive auctions.

Bidding 4c has zero upside and just about gaurantees 4h - p - p back to you. Did I really bid like this to defend 4h down 1 at imps?

If I'm reading this correctly, partner opened 3C w/r. I would say a 6 card suit is very very possible then, maybe even likely?

Pass, partner's preempt has probably done it's job. Def do not bid 4C at this vulnerability!

I read it as R/W my mistake. W/R I would say pass is pretty easy.
