jdonn
As a passed hand you can bid 2♥ (no you don't promise spade tolerance!). If you weren't a passed hand you could double. Don't pass!

mcphee
we can pass and when our partner reopens (we hope) bid 2 or 3H. I think a direct 2H is overstating things.

ArtK78
I agree with the 2♥ bid here. The sixth heart makes up for the lack of high card strength. Partner should not go wild facing a passed hand.

Yep I'm perfectly happy passing, guess that's where we differ. I do strongly strongly strongly believe you cannot bid 2H with this though. Not saying I'm right necessarily, that's just my belief. The problem I see with X is that you may be making a penalty pass by partner untenable as your -X range is expanding downward too much. And any NFB is already choking partner and will make supporting even harder to justify.
Old York
I agree with 2♥ as a passed hand, you are not showing any tolerance for spadesall you have is hearts, so bid 'em.... the bid suggest hearts as a prefered trump suit, nothing more, and 100% non-forcing. Partner's third hand opening could be shaded, planning to pass any bid you madeYou are very close to 10 total points, but could not open a weak 2♥, it is a slight overbid, but the overcall helpsWithout the overcall, you would be forced to respond 1NT, not the most descriptive of bids, either.... so 2♥ is a GOOD bid in this situation Tony
