No but I'd ban people blaming others (in this case advertisers) when they should instead be taking responsibility for raising their kids properly. Learning there is stuff you want but can't have is an important lesson and advertisers are providing parents with an opportunity to teach their kids that lesson. Maybe Tiger Woods' dad should have taught him that instead of just golf.

I don't want to ban toy commercials, or prescription drug commercials or lottery commercials, or even ringtone commercials. People should decide for themselves if they want to buy such products, and should be able to say no to their kids who want them.

Rather it should be forbidden to run scams on TV like these games where you can call in but never get through.

I don't mind broadcasts where people pretend to read someone's future or the like, I mean if you call in there you know what you can expect.

in Sweden and Greece it has been already banned. the EU doesn't like the Greek ban but Sweden will probably keep it (since that's a law from '91 I think). Nothing recent happened but I found out about this recently.

On researching afterwards, I found out that there are similar discussions about candy too. :)

Depends on what kind of "toys" you mean. I mean, there seems to be a relationship between possession of cell phones and cars and a reduced need for some toys, but then other toys seem to be more useful, depending on the passenger and/or recipient of cell phone calls.

Because children should not be mind controlled or something. I don't think I like the idea but I see the potential for a nice controversy but apparently everyone here agrees. Just the one mandatory vote to destroy unanimity.

Right; the government is in a better place to do the mind control by not allowing these ads.
