gwnn
KxxJTxAQ9xxxx 1♠ from the right and then: 1♠-p-2♣-4♦4♥-??? partner is not usually insane with his preempts. w/r imps.
jdonn
I will bid, 5♦! Partner already made them guess heavily, I don't need to go nuts. No more blackwood, no more cuebids, just guessing at their own values. They may not even know what suit they belong in.
pooltuna
KxxJTxAQ9xxxx 1♠ from the right and then: 1♠-p-2♣-4♦4♥-??? partner is not usually insane with his preempts. w/r imps. you need to choose between 6♦ and 5♦. I would choose to 5 to make it hard for them to get to

OleBerg
I'll join the "obvious 5♦" choir. Partner might have looked at the vulnerabilety too.
Phil
5♦. Seems wrong to sell out to 4 of a major and I'd like to take away their cuebid.
benlessard
The classic plan is too bid 5D and defend hoping they guess wrong. The alternative plan is to pass and sac if they bid 6M with confidence (after showing a D void). Since the chance of them having a cold 6 is fairly high and my save rate to cost -800 ill pass. Vilgan
Pass. I usually like 5♦ in situations like this because it makes them guess, but if their suit is hearts then responder already has to guess. It could easily go p p p making 6. Even if the suit is spades, opener might not be able to tell preference from a fit and might not push on to 6. I will save over 6 though if opener shows a diamond void. jdonn
If the point is to save at the 7 level with Kxx of spades in my hand, I concede, too tough.
gwnn
No, there's no point, I just wanted to show what happened in the hand. And for the people who are curious and lazy I gave the result for a possible 7 level sac. I would never have dreamt of 7/6 on this hand

aguahombre
did your team gain the one imp they deserved?
gwnn
haha, no, this was IMP pairs, we got -28 across the field imps, -1460 would have been -39, -1100 would have been +70. (16 tables)
Free
7♥ is laydown, so why push them?
gwnn
I just asked everybody what they would have bid at the table. I did not say there were right or wrong answers. Similarly, I did not say there were answers that would lead to a huge amount of IMPs either way.
