bd71
[hv=d=e&v=e&n=s95hakqj73dk8542c&s=sakqt6h4dq63cjt65]133|200|Scoring: IMPBidding starts(P) 1♠ (3♣) Where do you want to be and how do you get there? Our auction was:(P) 1♠ (3♣) 3♥(P) 3N (P) 4♦(P) 5♦ (P) 6♦ Down 2 when E has all 5 trump, so slam and 5D are no good. Probably we should have suspected after the 3-level pre-empt. But seems to me there are several different places to play this if not in diamonds...what is best and why?[/hv]
aguahombre
what is best? or what is biddable. obviously 4H works. North's 4d is what i would --unfortunately bid, instead of 4H which works.
TylerE
Doubling 3♣ to show the reds is too hard? Shouldn't X then pull of 3N to 4♥ show about this hand?

Shouldn't X then pull of 3N to 4♥ show about this hand? lol No, actually my negative doubles show game forcing 7-6 distribution, so I am a little short. vuroth
My first thought was to double, rather than bid 3♥, but I don't have a huge problem with the auction as it stands. If your diamond spots were better, slam would probably be reasonable. Certainly, game in diamonds should be a strong favourite. V
Codo
Double then 4 Heart had not shown this hand to me. So I had bid 3 Heart 4 Diamond like north did. I am not sure about 6 diamond, I think I had pased 5 diamond but my first impression was to bid 6. No need to cater for a 5-0 break despite the preempt. Yes a 4-1 is highly possible, but it is possible that partner holds a better hand too.
