vuroth
My intermediate thoughts: 1. 5♦. It's IMPs, and partner has at least 2 diamonds. Seems like the right place to play. Partner will raise when it's right, I hope! 2. 3♥. Seems like both sides have a double fit, though if partner bids clubs I can still correct to diamonds. 3. Well, assuming it's imps/rubber, we were always going to play south for the K♠ anyways, so ♦, ruff ♦ low, run the J♠. Either I get 2 club discards, or I go for a number. olliebol
1) tried 5 ♦ now partner with kxx axx xxx jxxx couldnt move ♦werent 3-0 so plus one. 2)Wasnt sure 3♥ was forcing here (2♦ promising 10+) came up with 3 ♠ and on partners 4♣ answer tried 5♦ thinking that good ♦ opposite may bid 6. (was sure now partner having 6♦ and 4♣ because otherwise neg double on 1♠) Partner had q, xx, K10xxxx, kqxx and went down with bad luck in ♦ 3) All is well , they misdefended badly, go to hand with 3rd ♦ and pick up ♠works, playing ♠ ace does the job too. (king comes falling by opener) but whatever you do, dont try to cash the 3rd high ♦ first : it gets ruffed small by r.h.o. and down you go. Did i really do that? I tend to only post disasters so feel free to respond you will do better :) thx vuroth for answers
Codo
In 1 you should try 4 Diamond which is gameforcing and looking for slam. In 2 I would raise to 3 Diamond, this is forcing, isn't it?
PaulLanier
(1). 4D. Leaving aside the question of why RHO didn't just open 3H, opps have at least 10 hearts, since p failed to bid 1H. If it's right to compete to 5D over the expected 4H sac (Law of Total Tricks), I will have to bid 4D now. That is the best descriptive call. Pard can then double LHO's expected 4H call if that is the correct action.(2) 3D. Pard's free bid ought to show 5+ diamonds with up to 9- HCP (with more, he should make negative double, then bid diamonds). This is a standard competition to the three-level when both sides have an eight-card fit.Regards, Paul
Vilgan
1) Obviously still want to play in diamonds. I'm going to make one more try with 4♥, bidding 5♦ over what partner bids to show how interested I am. If we play in 5 + 1, oh well. 2) 3♠ cue, as you did. I think the bidding is fine.. oh well :( 3♥ isn't forcing imo and I'd hate to get passed. 3) I wouldn't have played the 2nd diamond personally. I would have won the A of diamonds, played the J of hearts pitching a diamond, trumped a baby diamond to my hand, and finessed in spades. Would have been a major bummer to have my K of diamonds trumped.
