After i tried to log in to BBO, the waiting for response from server screen appear and it will take like >5 mins b4 allowing me to log in. This only happened this week and have not made any major changes to my comp recently except for upgrading to 3.7.8.It happened when i was using 3.7.7 Any ideas?

My firewall seem not to be the cause of the prob i disabled it and still have the same problem. I tried to tracert to bbo.bridgebase.com and here is the result

The login process sends an awful amt of data down to your pc, anywhere from 200KB to 400KB.

On dialup, a couple of minutes is not unusual, especially if your connection is not "perfect". The past few weeks have seen heavier traffic (Malmo vugraphs) than usual, and the login "blast" is correspondingly larger.

Once you are connected, do things run smoothly?

You can try these

- msg me next time you see me on BBO (uday) , ask me to check your connection, remind me of this post

- dblclick the connection-status icon in your system tray (far right, bottom ) and see what speeeds you are achieving

- visit www.dslreports.com (free) and fiddle with their tools to see if they have any suggestions for your connection and setup. At the least, run their tools and see what they suggest you do.
