In principle, I agree with you, but the thread ended on a perfect note.

Yes it ended. Whether it would end on a perfect note or not, naturally, without the lock, is under question though. Main characters of the arguments were Rik, Csaba,Rainer and Arend. (Timo and Ron were behaving as much as they could and Richard was not around) How bad can it end without the lock, when your 4 main characters in argument are those names, who proved themselves to be level headed, educated, smart and good players in the past?

Even cops, for example, when they are called by neighbours for a noisy party, do not stop the party. They first ask to keep it down a bit. And Barmar is a very good moderator and doing a great job here in BBF in general. When he had to deal with me in the past, via PM or openly, he always chose to warn. And the incidents I am referring to were much uglier and heated than this. And backing up from my ground was even harder for me because I am a bit hot headed. I still complied with his requests. Imo Barmar has very good people skills to convince/show that how things look like from his shoes. I was surprised he decided to lock, instead of using his skills and warning.

Does anyone else believe that Barry went overboard in locking the thread titled "Is this a trap"? . Sure the discussion was spirited, but no one was abused and some interesting points were raised and comments were made. I feel this action was totally unwarranted.
I really hate to agree with the hog, but I do...

Removed some duplicate posts from several forums, left only one per poster with corresponding replies. Please do not post the same thing in several forums - we see it even if it's posted only once :)

Also removed a rude reply from Novice/Beginner Forum. Please check where you are posting before replying.

Moved the question about strategy in Robot Duplicates from General Bridge Discussion to General BBO Discussion. I considered moving it to the GIB forum, but that tends to be more for reports of issues with GIB than general discussion about playing, so I felt this would give the discussion more visibility.

Deleted an abuse report from newcomer to the forums and instructed the poster on how to go about reporting abuse.

Reminder to new members and lurkers out there: Abuse reports should be sent to abuse@bridgebase.com

There is now a way to block specific members from posting in the Novice/Beginner Forums, while allowing them elsewhere in the forums. If you see someone consistently posting bad advice in the N/B please report the posts in question. A mod will review the harmful posts and take action if necessary.
