I got rid of "the ACBL unjustly fired my friends" thread.

Besides the personal attacks that were contained in this thread, I do not think it is an appropriate topic for discussion on these Forums.

Good move Fred, however when a statement/explanation says, "I do not think..." is that a questionable reason??

I truly like this forum. ;)

A thread in the "Laws and Regulations" forum where someone complained about foul words typed in during a game (naming the individual and posting snipped text from BBO) was deleted for violation of the Bridgebase Forum regulatioins about naming players who are not here to defend themselves, yada yada yada

One user has been banned and his "replies" to topics unapproved (this means the system automatically hides such replies). I did not unapprove his "topics", because if I did, all replies to them would have been hidden as well. The user was banned because he is not a real BBO online member. He created his account there to post here. He only was logged into the gaming site once and played no hands. The same day, a minute after he created his online identity, he logged in here to post 100% cut-and-paste questions from this and other forums.

I am posting this info here, simply because I might have hidden (essentially deleted) a reply or two by this user in some post. Should you be that user and are no longer able to post in the forum and have a reasonable explaination for your action, you can write to me at inquiry at bridgebase dot com.

Two post were edited in the Beginner/Intermediate forum (and any post quoting either). The first edited post pointed out the view of the author that the original poster should have bid earlier. Then added a common reason for such "misbid" (someone else sat in on that round of the bidding). The original poster didn't agree with the view that there should have been an earlier bid, and took offense at how the person who filled in for one round of bidding was described (never read victor mollo I guess).

Anyway, the point is the Beginner/Intermediate forum should allow people to post without even the vague appearance that their post is being made fun of. We were all beginners at one time, and asking question and getting answers in that forum needs to be open and without fear of being made to look silly, wrong, or whatever... So I felt the need to step in without changing the gist of the discussion was necessary.

A post in a thread in the "Advanced and Expert" forum was edited to remove inappropriate material.

As a rule I don't usually moderate anything in "water cooler". However, today I "unapproved" one post in the climate control thread for being, well, inappropriate. IT is true that this topic raises a lot of heated debate, but to attack the poster rather than his views is, well, wrong. I will note that I did not truely delete it. It is still there, and I will let the real moderator of that forum decide what to do with it. If it goes back in as is, is edited and allowed back in, or left "deleted" will be up to them. Until such a decision is made, the post will remain hidden from view.

One post making fun of the english of another poster was deleted. The subsequent back-and-forth was not edited, but if it continues the entire thread will be removed.

Such posts are usually a punch below the belt.

Agree with the moderation, but truly, says more about poker than the original poster.

Want to make fun of my English, go ahead!

I am a non-native speaker, I am entitled to malaproprism. Acquantainces and coworkers have have actually adopted my babaluisms because they say they are funny.

As to my spelling, it is really the fault of my keyboards, which letters are wiped out in 2 weeks given my sweaty fingers.

Disclaimer-- i don't evem know that post this was referring to.
