ONEferBRID
♥ are trump.Replies to 5C Voidwood with another void ( Sp or Diam ):5th step = 6C = even ( 0 or 2 ) + another void ( ♠ or ♦ )6th step = 6D = odd ( 1 or 3, excluding ♣A) + ♦void 6H = odd ( 1 or 3, excl ♣A ) + ♠ void
andy_h
5♦ I have 1. If partner is EKC-ing then I'd say it's likely he has the other 3 of them to have immediately taken control.
ONEferBRID
Some will question:1) Responder's use of Jac2NT with shortness him/herself; 2) Opener's not replying 3C! first to show shortness.
OleBerg
Some will question:1) Responder's use of Jac2NT with shortness him/herself; 2) Opener's not replying 3C! first to show shortness. 1) Pick-up partners playing a standard system where an immidiate void-showing bid is limited. Strong voids are handled via 2NT. 2) He did. You can't change that.
dake50
7H! Partner didn't use bidding space to explore, so he doesn't need to. NOR do I!!
Echognome
Agree with the thread title. Would have started with 2♣. I'm all for supporting hearts, but not showing a fantastic 7 card suit? Not for me.
ONEferBRID
I hope we eventually get to see Opener's hand..... unlike so many other threads here.
Fluffy
partner asked a question and I am answering it with 5♦
OleBerg
I hope we eventually get to see Opener's hand..... unlike so many other threads here. There is a reason for that. I do however understand your curiosity here: Partner either had: [hv=d=s&v=e&s=sakq8hqj98643daqc]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] or [hv=d=s&v=e&s=sakq8hqj98643daqc]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] I'll reveal which one later. OleBerg
I had #2. Please don't flame to harshly, it seemed like a good practical solution with a pick-up partner,
ONEferBRID
Dealer: South Vul: E/W Scoring: IMP ♠ [space] ♥ K732 ♦ K10 ♣ AKJ10763 1♥ - 2NT5♣ - ??? 2NT = 4+Hearts, gameforce.5♣ = Voidwood. (1430). Sooo, did you end up in 6♥ ? ( obviously making ... and maybe an overtrick if the opening lead were a ♠ ). Opener♠ KQJ98 ♥ AQ9864 ♦ A9 ♣ void
OleBerg
Yes we went to 6♥. Playing with screens, I returned the tray after my 5♣ bid, expecting it to come back quickly. We hadn't discussed voidwood, but we had uttered the sentences: "So, we ALWAYS reply 1430?""YES!" So I felt confident no misundrstanding could arise. But it didn't come back quickly. When it came it was with 5♦. So I bid 6♥, and played it there. Hearts 2-2 and ♣Q dropped. 13.
