maybe you should have beat partner to it!

Some will question:

1) Responder's use of Jac2NT with shortness him/herself;

2) Opener's not replying 3C! first to show shortness.

1) Pick-up partners playing a standard system where an immidiate void-showing bid is limited. Strong voids are handled via 2NT.

2) He did. You can't change that.

I hope we eventually get to see Opener's hand..... unlike so many other threads here.

There is a reason for that. I do however understand your curiosity here:

Partner either had:

[hv=d=s&v=e&s=sakq8hqj98643daqc]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]

or

[hv=d=s&v=e&s=sakq8hqj98643daqc]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]

I'll reveal which one later.

Yes we went to 6.

Playing with screens, I returned the tray after my 5 bid, expecting it to come back quickly.

We hadn't discussed voidwood, but we had uttered the sentences:

"So, we ALWAYS reply 1430?"

"YES!"

So I felt confident no misundrstanding could arise.

But it didn't come back quickly.

When it came it was with 5.

So I bid 6, and played it there. Hearts 2-2 and Q dropped. 13.
