Jlall
1N is fine unless you open sound. I bid 4C now, what else would I do?

mich-b
Agree with 4♣ now , but would not bid 1NT, this is a GF hand for me.

MarkDean
If you bid 4♣, pd bids 4♦. If over that you bid 4♥ (not last train), partner bids 4♠.
kfay
If you bid 4♣, pd bids 4♦. If over that you bid 4♥ (not last train), partner bids 4♠. I keep going. I have THREE ACES!!! This is the best slam hand I could have on the auction so far, unless maybe I had some better spots and a third trump? Any of those might have made me GF this though, especially the 3rd trump. I can totally envision us needing to play a diamond slam, btw. Can I bid 6♦ choice of slams? IDK
gwnn
4♦ empathetic splinter. if somehow you don't play them yet, you have to bid 4♣ and 4nt after 4♦.
pooltuna
[hv=d=w&v=n&s=sa9ha7d97653cat76]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] (P) 1♠ (P) 1NT (P) 3♠ (P) ? 1. Do you agree with 1NT = semi-forcing?2. What now? well the choice look like 3NT or 4♣ [is anyone really going to play this as natural?]. 3NT is only a consideration because it is MP but IMO you need to qbid 4♣ and hope partner has a no wasted values singleton♦
hanp
I would not bid 1NT, I accept that we will sometimes get to a poor game but this hand has too much potential. Agree with 4C now.
655321
I wouldn't have bid 1NT.
P_Marlowe
#1 well, we open sound, but due to lack of alternatives, 1NT is fine, but I am used to play a forcing NT.#2 4C, since p showed 6, I dont promise 3 card support. I wont force to slam, but I make a move. With kind regardsMarlowe
P_Marlowe
If you bid 4♣, pd bids 4♦. If over that you bid 4♥ (not last train), partner bids 4♠. Hi, I am giving up. I made a serious push toward slam, my bidding showed 2KC, sothats it. With kind regardsMarlowe
hatchett
Obvious to continue over 4♠.Slam is playable opposite some 2♠ rebids eg KJxxxxx Kxx Ax x, so I can hardly give up after a 3♠ rebid.
mikeh
For those who wouldn't have bid 1N....what would you have bid instead? I mean, I can understand how one might consider a hand with 3 Aces to be gf in value...but bridge is a dialogue, not a monologue. If we bid 2♦, partner will be encouraged if holding, say, Qx or QJx...holdings that in fact are not upgradable at all. It is a useful rule, in constructive bidding, that when we make a 2/1 natural new suit gf call, we should have at least 5th round control in the suit. If I were going to 2/1, it would be via 2♣. As it is, I am with the 1N crowd. That way, I am not distorting suit quality or length...and am not making a serious underbid unless playing Roth-Stone
