H_KARLUK
I sincerely hope that i am not mistaken. Just curiosity. Have you ever think about that hate feeling could be a stimulative factor improving bridge game skills in past years? I agree sportsmanship soul and active ethics are always nice to practice. To me cultivate friendships in a polite way and calm manners are wonderful things to absorb in mind. If you have an idea about this topic please be careful not to offend people publishing and insulting any name intentionally or unintentionally. I would like to read technical and impartial ideas, observations. All my best♥ Thanks :)
ArtK78
It may be just me, but I don't understand what you are trying to say here.
jdonn
It may be just me, but I don't understand what you are trying to say here. I had to read it a few times, but I think he is asking whether you play better if you hate your opponents, and thus whether that is a useful skill to cultivate? PassedOut
Can't speak for anyone else, but I find emotions like hate, fear, excitement, and so on to be counter-productive at bridge (and other things). It's hard for me to focus on solving objective problems when adrenalin levels are high, so I try not to let anything the opponents do bother me. I had more trouble with this when younger, but now I can smile at things that used to drive me up a wall.
Aberlour10
Have you ever think about that hate feeling could be a stimulative factor improving bridge game skills in past years? Thanks :) Yes, but not in this meaning you are thinking about.I have never had a second with a feeling of hate or a real anger for my p or ops....bridge is only a game and belongs to the "bright side" of my life. If I "hate">>>> I "hate" myself for mistakes, but only for these I repeat....it means, I get a bit excited about it...and this stimulate me to look for the methods to avoid it in the future. Phil
Bridge is no different than any other competitive activity. Some strive (to an unhealthy extreme sometimes) to get better because they hate to lose. Frequently this trumps the desire to win. Some simply play because they enjoy the social aspect. I am like this in tennis and running. I have accepted golf to be like this, because I cannot put in the time to be as good as I once was and probably never will be again. H_KARLUK
Appreciated for witful remarks. I think nobody like being pushed. Reactions could be different depending positions.
barmar
I play bridge for fun. I don't enjoy playing against people I find annoying, although I suppose there's a little extra satisfaction if we get a good board against them. But the unpleasantness of spending time with them trumps the competitive spirit. And I'm not sure I play my best when I'm trying to ignore theis misbehavior. BTW, what does the subject "Milestones" have to do with the question?
