If the 4H bid is a cue showing 1st or 2nd round, then redouble should be the other honor card or void. Partner's cue cannot be a singleton. I can see how this could be misinterpreted in light of partner's 1♥ opening, and how you might want the xx to say, lets play 4♥xx'd and have some surprise support. I would be very wary of using a redouble here to show a void. I suspect a large number of players would interpret this as a penalty redouble in light of partner's opening bid in the suit. If a partnership is confident enough, or has previously worked out, that based on the logic of the auction this redouble could be the king then more power to them, but it's not something I feel I could handle at the table playing with myself. Makes sense, but if asked for an explanation of partner's bid I'd probably forget that its a possibility and just explain it as A or Void. Lets say you hold the ace without the king, but with some intermidiates. Whether Partner hold a void or the king, might be very important. If you really want to get fancy, I'd much prefer pass to show shortness and XX to show the Ace or King. In that case openers XX over pass, can be used as a question to clarify whether it is single or void. 4NT can then be Voidwood in hearts. :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
