In a good day

Obviously, you have to make some sort of forcing call. You don't know which strain to play in or at what level.

I play 2 as artificial and forcing in this situation, so that is my choice.

Although I agree with 2 now, I think I would have bid 2 last round. My agreement about the strong jump shift is that it can be any one of 3 hand types: a long, strong suit win a game forcing hand; support for opener with a decent suit; 17+ balanced with a 5+ card suit. This hand falls into the third type and I think it is easier to describe if I start with 2. I would make a strong jump shift even if my agreement for the HCPs in the balanced hand type was higher - this is worth more than 17.

Maybe something like this, of course adjusted for different systems

1 1

2 2

3 3

3 5NT

6 6

P

2: Asking

3: Max with 3 hearts

3: Asking

3: Short spades

5NT: Pick a slam, in case opener is 1336. I think it's too obscure to investigate for x KQx Axxx KQxxx and you would need 3-2 breaks anyway.

The first 3 and last 2 bids are automatic.

why is 3H short spades? I mean I guess it's arbitrary, just havent seen high shortness first ever.

I think 5N is too much of a view, I wanna be in 6H at MP even if we need hearts to come in and can ruff them out in clubs. I would just set hearts as trumps via 3S then bid keycard.

Dealer: North
Vul: N/S

Could you please give your best bids by both sides ?

Sincerely

This is how I bid it with my regular pard :

1 1

2 2 (nmf, GF, personal agreement)

2 3 (3 cards, 3 sets hearts)

3 ____ (Any 1st/2nd round CTRL)

_____ 3NT (please bid 4 now if strictly minimum)

4 ____ (not Min, Ace or King)

_____ 4NT (RKCB)

5 ____ (2+Q)

_____ 5NT (we have all KC)

6 ____ (Nothing else)

This is how I would play it using Spider with my second pard :

1 Natural unbal, or 45

1 Relay GF or Hearts or LIM+ w/Diamonds

2 4+4+ minors unbal 11-14(15) HCP

2 GFR

2[NT] xx45

3 R

3 1345

4 sets Hearts

5 13-14HCP, 2 Keycards, Q, K, no other Kings.

5 Queens ?

6 No outside queens.

I didn't see it was mps, wouldn't investigate for clubs then.

I'm going to use dellache's sequence with only a change at the end:

After 5S = 2 + hQ, Responder makes the more useful bid of 6C next = asking for 3rd Rnd Ctrl ( essentially asking for the Cl Q , since the 4C cuebid already showed the Cl K. [ Third Rnd Ctrl Ask is triggered by bypassing the 5NT K-ask )

If Opener had the Cl Q, the reply would be 6NT.

If he didn't have it, the reply would be 6H ( same result as dellache's )

If he had both the Cl Q and J, the reply would be 7C ... which may then be corrected to 7H or 7NT.

1c=1h

2h=3c ( 2s would be start of short suit game try relay)

no stopping me now.

Really dislike opening 1C on that hand. You are forced to bidding 2C on that rubbishy suit. I much prefer Polish methods whereby you open this 1D and rebid 2C. Now 2S is an artifical GF and you clarify lengths and exact shape.

Further, this is an automatic 2H raise. I cannot believe the 2C bid in that context!
