Pass - 1NT (11-14) - 3H (weak) - ?[/hv]

I made a pig's ear of this hand. What would you bid?

are there any systemic consequences to the bids I would consider, 3NT, 4 (planning on a 5 rebid over 4), 5, 6 ?

I would bid 6 Club and take it from there. I won't found out on a convienied level about the missing aces and kings, so I will blast and let the sweat.

No need to show a two suiter as their are neraly no hands which play better in diamonds then in clubs.

6.

Can anyone come up with a hand for partner where diamonds plays better? Therefore, I don't see the need to show my 'suits' and will just bid my suit.

4 might elicit some useful information from partner and I wouldn't object to that call.

6 seems about right, partner will understand that it must be based on heart void, and even raise from time to time.

Off AKQJ of clubs?? And another ace?

I don't object to blasting 6 on hands like this in principle but this is just too good and I think I have a chance to bid a grand intelligently, so 4.

I bid 5H, which I thought I had agreed with my partner was ordinary exclusion Blackwood, but she didn't think we had ... I think starting with 4C is right and if partner bids 4D, then 5H as exclusion for clubs.

We reached 7C, and RHO cashed the AS ...

Vanilla EKCB? Been awhile since I've seen that. 4 ace bw is rare enough.

Take away a few diamonds and its a good call.

By the way, how can you ever be sure partner is covering diamonds?

What agreements do people have after 4?

What are typical hands for 4, 4, 4, 4NT and 5?

4D/4S/4N nat, 4H good hand for clubs imo. No doubt some might disagree with this

I guess this is the majority view. But how do you proceed?

Lets say partner bids 4 Spade, one of his most likely continuations. How does he know that he does not need any red ace and any club honour but just Axxx,Qjxx,KQx,xx to make the grand slam laydown? How do you proceed?

Or maybe he bids 4 NT with QJxx,, KJxx,KQx,xx and you? 5 HEart? Which shows/aks?

I'll bid the ridiculous 6 because A. I think I can make it, and B. I don't think it's possible to bid a grand reasonably.

It *could* go...

1NT (3) 4 (pass)

4

and then you could EKCB. But this rates to be so unlikely I would prefer not to mess up and bid a straight 6.
