kfay
Good opps. [hv=d=w&v=b&s=skqj87h9dkq952c104]133|100|Scoring: BAMP-P-1♣-1♠2♥-3♠-5♠-P7♥-P-P-?[/hv] 5♠ is exclusion KCB for hearts. Do you pass that bid? What about 7♥?
Jlall
I would have bid 6S, I am saving over slam so why give them more room to sort out whether or not they have 7. Now I will save in 7S, no reason not to believe them and it's surely cheap enough. If RHO psyched it wd.
kenrexford
I'll declare.
Fluffy
If there was ever a hand that screamed defend it must be this one. EDIT: I said defend meaning to bid 7♠ as a save. In spannish saving and defending are the same word O_o
gwnn
dude these thread titles are getting outa hand. anyway I think I wouldn't bid but if I knew my opps were really really good I could talk myself into it.
Codo
If there was ever a hand that screamed defend it must be this one. Well add the ace of heart and it would scream defend... :(
Fluffy
sorry maybe a problem with english there.
jdonn
At imps I would think it's clear to save but at BAM it's more complicated. I want to pass here unless I think 7♠ is a good save against 6♥. Down 5 is 1400 and they are vul so it is, so 7♠.
helene_t
Looks like they can get rid of their diamonds on the clubs. So I think I have zero defense. P couldn't double either. So 7♠.
Echognome
It's BAM, so a gamble. Maybe the other table is saving in 6♠. So I'll pass and take my chances.

Funny, I felt somewhat it was the other way around in that it was a lot closer at BAM. But I've never been a form-of-scoring guru.

Funny, I felt somewhat it was the other way around in that it was a lot closer at BAM. But I've never been a form-of-scoring guru. Let's say they can make 7♥ and our save goes for 800 (I'll be optimistic). First suppose at the other table they save in 7♠. At imps if we don't save we lose 16 and if we save we push, so we risk 16 imps by passing. At BAM we just risk half a board. Now suppose at the other table they save in 6♠. At imps if we don't save we lose 17 and if we save we lose 7, so we risk 10 imps by passing. At BAM we lose the board either way so it doesn't matter. Now suppose our teammates come back with 7♥. At imps if we don't save we push and if we save we win 16, so we risk 16 imps by passing. At BAM we just risk half a board. Finally suppose our teammates come back with 6♥. At imps if we don't save we lose 12 and if we save we win 12, so we risk 24 (!!!) imps by passing. At BAM we just risk one board. If 7♠ goes for more then the results are similar though not quite as drastic. Clearly it's way way way riskier to let them play 7♥ at imps than at BAM. I'm certainly no BAM guru myself, but this much seems clear to me.
