Hand from random teams 2

I hate 3 4 NT and pass followed by 5 spade and can see no link between the game called bridge and these bids.

I agree, the whole auction is pretty loopy.

I suppose it struck the opener to bid 2. Can't help it if that happens, I suppose, but when I have close to a GF if partner opens 1 I prefer not to make these preempts.

I don't mind 3 really, I've got to bid something, right? Anyway we're only forced to 3M. If my partner is going to expect an awesome hand then I guess I shouldn't bid it, but I don't know why I've promised the world's fair here.

This is where South changes to his alter-ego, Captain Insane-o. How is 4NT ever going to tell you what you need to know? Most common abuse of the convention and shining example of someone who should not be allowed to use it. Just start with 3.

That's where it gets tough for West. Obviously passing then bidding is awful awful awful. Even though my hand is balanced I have a double-fit for partner and it doesn't sound like they're close to slam or even that they have a huge majority of the HCP so maybe if they make game I go for 500 and if they don't, just 200. But probably everyone in the world would bid 4 at this point.

Now North is like 'well now I can see why I shouldn't have opened 2 in the first place on a near-opening hand.' And they are totally screwed because they just have to bid 5. This gets passed out.

Over 5 I have no idea why I am compelled to bid 6, was I trying to sacrifice? 6/5? Red v. Red? This is just a wild guess, lucky that it paid off. But after partner made a slamtry and this clown made this goofy bid I'd definitely be happy to take the sure money and lower the axe at this point. If I believe my partner, anyway. If the OP is asking how to get to 7, that's impossible in my opinion after I open 2 and the opponents decide to intervene. Anyway since my hand is so awesome, I should have bid 6 in the first place over 4NT to show a void and a keycard. Now responder will undoubedly bid the grand himself, since he's no stranger to taking wild stabs.
