After 3C preemption

3D --discussed and agreed in my reg partnership as real --not the same as the stretch if the auction were 1M (3C) 2M.

I am sure there are good arguments why this agreement is wrong, but we are sticking to it.

hmmm I thought this was a countable reason :(

3NT may be wrongsided, but in the absence of an agreement that 3 shows invitational values, I don't see what choice you have.

By the way, even if 3 does show invitational values, partner may be hardpressed to find a good call without a club stopper.

It makes lots of sense to play transfers after all interference of partner's 1-suit opening: you can make both negative free-bids and forcing bids at the same time with none of the drawbacks of negative free-bids but all of the benefits. And when you have a normal forcing bid, you get extra room, as well as the overcaller usually being on lead against the final contract. It also solves this problem, you can make your partner declarer with his queen of clubs :-)

Of course, transfers are generally better than the current standard treatments, although few play it nowadays. It also allows you to transfer to 3NT with weak stoppers or even not stopper but want to gamble that partner may hold one.

Then you need another way to raise diamonds if 3 shows 5 hearts. Not to mention 3 getting doubled for the lead. Transfers are good but not worth a t-shirt.
