kenrexford
1♥-1♠2♣-2♦(4SFG)2♥-3♥3♠(spade control 1 or 2)-3NT(serious)4♣(two of the top three clubs)-4NT(RKCB hearts)5NT(0/3 with void)-7♣ That's one way. If Opener does not show the void, then the small is bid, at least.
Free
2♥-2NT (weak 55+ H+other ; relay)3♦-3♥ (max H+C ; relay)4♦-4NT (void S ; RKC C)5♣-5♦ (1 kc ; CQ?)5NT-7♣ (yes but no K ; good enough) Opener showed max, so he should have ♥Q when V. Fluffy
you guys think too much 4♥-4♠ (4♠= anti cue, I don't control spades)4NT-5♦ (or clubs)5NT-6♦7♥
jdonn
Yes, I think about things like how big of a number I'll go for when I open at the 4 level vulnerable in a bad 6 card suit. :) LouisG's auction looks good to me. The other one I fear I'll have is 3♥ - 6♥ or something (only due to the vul, so maybe I should fear 3♥ - 4♥!)
dellache
I would bid like this (East mostly relays) :-- 1H2C 2D Min hand no 4S2H 3H x6x5 5-6 losers.3S 4C 06254D sets clubs as trumps-- 4S 1 Keycard4N 5S QC + (QH OR KH+KD) At this moment East knows -- Qyxxxx yy KQxxx. It's possible to know the ♥Jack before reaching 7♣ (and sometimes the 10♥), but here I'm always bidding 7♣ because it's practically 100%. 7♥ could suffer a Club ruff. I don't believe OTOH that North will often have a Heart Void, he may have bid 1♠. I'm not really afraid of the 2 imps loss against 7♥ because the grand might be forgotten more often than not. My 2 pence.
awm
It seems pretty easy to reach this grand if you open the west hand 1♥. After all, east has a 20 point hand with lots of controls opposite an opening bid. The more difficult auction will be after west passes or opens with some preemptive call. Perhaps something like: 2♥ - 2NT(1)3♥(2) - 4♣(3)4NT(4) - 5♣(5)7♥(6) (1) Ogust(2) A good hand, but a bad suit(3) Cuebid for hearts; denies a spade control(4) East must have a diamond control to slam try opposite weak two w/o ♠ control; RKC.(5) 1/4 keycards for hearts(6) Could ask kings... but if east has no ♦K he should have a real ♥ fit and diamonds can be pitched on the run of the clubs.
