In matchpoints (an ACBL robot tourney but if that affects your decision say so) the hand is:
Dealer: West
Vul: N/S
Scoring: MP
AJT53
T832
QJ62
[space]
KQ
AQ74
T87
A852

Bidding goes:

P-P-P-1N

P-2-P-2

P-4-PO

Lead comes 9 plan the play

I am inclined to play the 4 tricks subject to change if anything too untoward happens

1) win Q

2) win A

3) win ruff

4) small from dummy to the Q

Take K, ruff a Club, Heart to Q, A, to Ace, I'm home if I've survived this and spades break no worse than 4-2.

Cashing the A before ruffing a club doesn't work so well for 2 reasons :

1. you allow them to score a possible Diamond ruff ;

OR

2. East may play back a second spade after King, and that may really prove nasty.

Cheers

okay so a little more info. on your first play east plays the J singleton. To those of you who have already ruffed a what do you do now (West winning the K over your Q returns the 2?

I ask to my screenmate : what are your leads ?
