Fluffy
I could had avoided this by not opening but here I am. ♠K10♥J863♦J974♣AK8 all vul, south dealer, MPs 1♦-(2♥)-X-(pass)
Jlall
Is this imps? Eh whatever I pass even at imps. That may be too terrifying to some but I really think it is the percentage bid despite the obvious risk of them making it.
Fluffy
its MPs, and I knew yo uwere gonna pass :)
Jlall
its MPs, and I knew yo uwere gonna pass :) :) Yeah MP red/red I'm actually happy to pass.
Phil
Pass too - it actually could be quite lucrative.
jdonn
Hey cut it out guys, I started it. I also make the super high variance pass. May get a huge number versus air, may give up a couple overtricks. But there is nothing else to do.
karlson
I'll sit it out red/red at mps, but at other conditions, I'll go against the rest and pull (2n scrambling). Maybe we can beat it with a spade lead from the ace, but I don't like our chances on what rates to be a diamond lead.
Fluffy
this was a sound 2♥ weak overcall BTW he had ♥AKQ10xx with 6331
gnasher
I don't much like the idea of defending 2♥x on a diamond lead. I'd bid 2NT at any form of scoring.
Codo
I would bid 2 NT at imps, but pass at mps.
mich-b
I would bid 2NT , but in MP (only!) would not be upset if partner passed.
dellache
I admit I would never have Passed at the table, and would have bid 2NT. I find it quite interesting that experts suggest a Pass here : I'm not really a strong MP player, and try to get any opportunities to improve my judgement in this area. Fluffy
you are in the right site for that dellache ;), 1 year ago I would bid 2NT without a doubt. But some post by Justin have made me switch gears. I passed and collected 800, partner had a monster [hv=n=saq9xhxxdakqc97xx&w=sjxxhakq10xxdxxxcx&e=sxxxxh9d10xxcqj10xx&s=sk10hj8xxdj9xxcakx]399|300|[/hv] One more question, after cashing ♦AKQ partner didn't trust my ♦9 and switched to clubs. Is it normal to switch to ♣9 to show no honnor or to third to show count?
aguahombre
interesting.passpasspasspassshow actual hand which bid 2H, thenpullpullpullpullthen show the good result from passing.
Fluffy
yeah I am a bit evil ;)
miguelm
ehehehe I was about to make the same conclusion.... I don't like to sit in auctions like this one, I tend to follow the rule (TO doubles are for take out) unless I have big reasons not to... One of those reasons could the be the fact that I am playing MPs and have to make some sort on "against the field" action in search for a good result. So, 2NT for me. Yes, I always take advantage of whatever clues we've been given. It's much more important to look good than to actually think about the problem.
