ArtK78
4♠. I don't overcall a preempt without a good hand. To double first and then bid a suit shows a real monster. I have an ace and two spades - that is enough to raise to game.

vuroth
Agree. 4♠, glp.
jdonn
I bid game because of the spot cards and distribution of the honors. I would be a lot less confident with xx Jxx Jxxxx Axx.
neilkaz
4♠ WTP here for me. PD is supposed to have a really good hand with a really good suit to X then bid his suit.
Codo
I am a little surprised about the wtps... After all we all discussed recently that double and a suit does not show a monster one suiter, but more flexibility then just a suit bid. In this case the rebid is ugly and I would sit and hope for a miracle. If you are sure that your partner has the monster one suiter, 4 spade is really a wtp... aguahombre
To me, double, then 3S does show a monster, but also doubt about what trumps should be. This knowledge doesn't help me choose what to do now, but I am not broke. Maybe 4C should suggest (within my previous 3D bid) this hand --or maybe I just want it to :)
Cascade
4♣ looks more flexible than 4♠ which will often be a 5=2 fit.
Jlall
I would just pass B)

I have an ace and two spades - that is enough to raise to game. Not really, it just shows a flexible hand that is pretty good. Overcalling 3S with 54 in the majors and 17 points would really suck! It really seems to me like some people are confusing Xing 1C and then bidding spades with doubling 3C and then bidding spades.
helene_t
Maybe the lesson is that my 3♠ was an underbid ...... 6♠ makes.
gwnn
i dont think it was an underbid KJTxxxAKTxQxx- was it? I think I would have passed 3♠ at the table... But not sure. Anyways RHO surprised me in a pleasant manner when he bid 3NT which I was happy to double and at least we got +300.
P_Marlowe
I think I would have passed 3S. It is certainly a matter how weak a direct 3S could be.With the original hand, I would have bid 3S, certainly maxfor the call, and 4S not being out of the uestion, which maymean I should raise 3S to 4S.But I dont need to be logically consistent ... With kind regardsMarlowe
Jlall
i dont think it was an underbid KJTxxxAKTxQxx- was it? Indeed it was not an underbid at all heh. WHERE ARE THE OPPS?! Oh well I stand by my pass :) I think that a club void is really atypical. Making 6 was extremely fortunate also.
jdonn
A 13 count was atypical too! Pard, I bet Rodwell wouldn't pass.
