Sometimes I use the guideline that a jump should be about an ace better than an opening hand. Anyone out there who would not open A8x AK96xx xx xx? I doubt it. As long as both bids show a 6 carder, I dont think there is muchdifference in the outcome.After 3H I may feel more comfortable, if partner bids 4H at one pointin time, otherwise I may be forced to make at least one move towardslam, ... given the amount of controls I have.This consideration may already be enough to make 3H better than 2H. If you are coming from an Acol background, than the answer is,the cut off for a Acol is 15, i.e. you have to bid 3H with 15.But than nearly all bids are lighter playing Acol compared to SA or 2/1.And if I am right in my assesment, all post up to now, came from peoble,who dont have a Acol background.
