Jlall
X of 1N was takeout of spades. X by you here would be penalty. I would bid 3D with this hand.

Phil
Yep, TOx + easy 3♦ call. By the way, a DSIP double has some superficial appeal, but where are the damn spades? I like 3♦ even more since it shuts out the pending 2♠ call by LHO on the 5 count. Edited October 25, 2009 by Phil
straube
Penalty. Opener has bid a suit that partner has offered to play. If the double isn't preserved for penalty, the opponents are free to steal the suit.

If the double isn't preserved for penalty, the opponents are free to steal the suit. you are talking about a double of the 2H call. The OP was a bit unclear, but I think he was asking about the double after (1S) p (1NT), since that is the only double shown in the post. pooltuna
[hv=d=n&v=n&s=st4hk98dkt862cqt6]133|100|Scoring: XIMP1♠-(P)-1NT-X2♥-?[/hv] This double would normally be a TOX of 1♠ but it looks like the opps have to be using F1NT and East was going to make a bailout bid I would X to let partner know I have some cards as I think he has a very strong hand and will raise a NT call to game if we don't end up playing 2♥X
Fluffy
double is not so bad, but I don't like thataprtner is so likelly to bid 3♥ over 2♠ if we double. so 3♦.
