gwnn
My partner held this hand and did something interesting: xxATxxAQJxxQx 1♦-2NT? NV imps
Phil
Interesting like pass or 3♦? I bid 3N but my 2N calls aren't bad 10's.
jdonn
I bet the interesting call was 3♠ expecting partner to just auto 3NT.
Jlall
Just bid 3N
dellache
A Nespresso 3NT.Pass is just tolerable. Anything else is an attempt to destroy partnership's trust in the long term.
dake50
Let me guess 2N may have a 4xM when tenaced/quacky, so "checkback" 3C and found 4-4/4-3 H-fit with only 1xS-stop.
helene_t
No, 3♣ is to play, isn't it? Would come in handy with a 55m ten count. A strong hand can always bid 3M.
pooltuna
My partner held this hand and did something interesting: xxATxxAQJxxQx 1♦-2NT? NV imps he doesn't like the hands you use to bid 2NT so he passed?
gwnn
he bid 3♦. it worked out great, i had ♠xx and ♦KTx or something, dont remember the exact hand
mr1303
Well, in that case you either had 4 hearts or 5 clubs, so I may politely suggest 2NT was not the best call on your cards?
gwnn
You may suggest an alternative too -- 1NT is 6-10 2C is GF 3C is 9-11, 6 good cards. So 2NT is needed with 2335.
Jlall
Yeah in normal 2/1 methods it is a problem that you might have to bid 2N with inadequate stoppers. There are fixes to this but nothing is perfect.
P_Marlowe
Pass? With kind regardsMarlowe
rhm
Looking at this hand I wonder what 3♥ should show at this stage. Assuming that 3♥ is forcing I wonder: Should 3♥ show more than a raise to 3NT would? If yes, why?Should any of responders 4 minor rebids be forcing on opener? If yes, why? If a ♠ lead is beating 3NT and you bid 3NT how likely are you to escape a ♠ lead? By far the most likely hand opener is to hold at this stage is a hand where he has enough to raise but concerned about one of the majors. Should 3♥ even guarantee 4 cards?
