Bergen raises

Recommended Posts

Your hand as North

[hv=s=skjt65haq83daq3c9]133|100|[/hv]

Bidding goes like this (no interference from Opps):

N  S

1 3*

Two questions: 1) Your bid? 2) Does splinter bids apply (4) or would be considered natural?

* Bergen raise 10-12 with 4 card support

you are the one playing Bergen so why don't you tell us (of course telling your partner would be best) if 4 is natural. I would think 3 (and 4) would be qbids in this auction. That gives you a chance to see if partner is going to bypass a 4 qbid. If he does you can practically jump to 6

Seems like you should involve 3H in the slam bidding process too. Like maybe 3H general game try or splinter, partner bids 3S with min, 3N with max then you can bid low/middle/high if you want (and partner has defined his range some more too).

Bid 3N as a shortness ask

Bid 4C+ as suits with slam tries.

Or something like that. Basically I think you should have shortness ask, shortness showing, and 2nd suit all available if you want.
