kenrexford Posted October 14, 2009 Report Share Posted October 14, 2009 I'm a 1NT rebidder, because of the desire to have 1♠ show a fifth club. I take this so far that 1♠ does not even promise four (could be 3-1-4-5). A benefit of a 1NT rebid not specifically mentioned is that partner cvan often simply rebid a 5-card heart suit when he knows that you have 2-3 hearts. So, you really don't miss 5-3 heart fits all that often opposite weak hands. (Of course, to know that you have 2-3 hearts, Opener has to rebid 1♠ with 3-1-4-5 shape if you don't open 1♦ with that pattern.) Sure, some costs -- some benefits -- unknown which works best in the very long run. But, it "feels right" to me. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
