Most NFL owners are very conservative, and some of them are fairly outspoken politically. The issue is that Limbaugh is perceived as a racist. He made comments about Donovan McNabb being "overrated because he's black" during a short-lived stint as a football commentator. He has also made statements comparing the NFL to gang warfare. The NFL is about 2/3 black. Many of the players do not like Limbaugh and have stated that they would refuse to play for a team he owned. It would be suicide for the NFL to have him own a team, from the standpoint of ticket sales alone. People who love him but weren't seeing football are unlikely to start spending big bucks to watch a sport they don't like. It's already the case that players often take less money to play on a good team, or to stay where they are, or to play with a close friend. If Limbaugh's Rams offer a couple million per year more than the next best offer, probably a lot of players would chuck their principles and take it. I think the over/under would be higher than that -- they're both bad on defense too. I don't think players would care if Limbaugh owned a team.
