spades vs hearts!

Not playing a strong club system:

You may have avoided the problem, if you had opened a weak two,

but I can understand that a weak two is not an option at certain vul.

But maybe you would have been able to make a weak jump?

The main issue I have with Pass is, that you did not yet show the 6th

heart, partner may or may not have raised with 3 hearts and a 6 card

spade suit, most likely he should, but there is no real good alternative

to Pass.

With kind regards

Marlowe

P -- the standard auction will likely go 1 - 1N - 2.Be glad that you got to show your s.

No, the typical auction at other tables is 1 - 1N - three spades. Be glad you stayed low.

Gwnn - thanks for telling us 2 shows a little. What is 1 - 2?

actually this hand was played at a table I kibbed and I vaguely remember them playing 2D as mini multi over strong club ie 0-5 or something. And 1C 1D, 1H is 19+ almost any shape. So I'm pretty sure 2H here is like 5-8 5+ hearts. But next time I kib them I'll come back with real details. (:

2 here could easily show the same strength range as 1 - 2. For one thing the slower version could be a five card suit. It's also a different hand type, for example this very hand you could argue is a bad candidate for a direct 2 since it would be a good dummy for lots of strains. It's not like xx KQT9xx xxx xx.

2D as mini multi would mean, the hand would have been worth either a

2D opening or a weak two opening, I doubt it makes sense to have

a gap between hands which open with 2D and hands which open with 2H.
