Unfortunately now clicking "next" often take me many steps further, for example few rounds of bidding or many cards played.It would be very cool if action always stopped before my favourite player is to act giving me some time to think before actually seeing what he did (which I could do by clicking "next" again). This could be accomplished in two ways : a)adding empty chat comments between bidding actions in .lin files (this way every click of "next" only take me one action furtherb)in card play it would be very cool too especially combined with only seeing cards of chosen player (+kibitz the dummy). It's almost like converting all past vugraph files into one big bridgemaster quiz. Unfortunately now the viewer always plays all 4 cards after clicking "next". I believe it's very easy to implement changes to the viewer to make the option I describe possible and turn it into great learning tool.Please please implement it :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think it would be better to implement this with a software change as opposed to adding information to the data files in our archive. Up until now Handviewer, the software we use for the new vugraph archive (among other things), has been more or less an experiment I have been working on when I am bored. Unless our approach to this program changes (my guess: not unlikely) or unless I find myself being bored again soon (my guess: not especially likely), it is hard to see much happening with Handviewer in the near future. That being said, when the time is right for me to spend more time on Handviewer, I suspect I will spend at least some of that time adding some functionality related to interactivity. bluecalm Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Share Posted October 6, 2009 Thank you very much B) I mentioned editing .lin files cause I thought it's the easiest way to make it working during the bidding.The best solution I think would an option "follow the player" where the action stops every time this player is to act to give some time to consider what he actually played and only this player's card (and the dummy during the play) are exposed.I got this idea from chess where common training method is to try to guess great player's moves when replying their games it would be great for bridge too. Yeah. Although I suspect strongly these "jumpshifts" are caused by quick play at the table, and the vugraph-operator didnt managed to follow up card for card... Or some operator /transfer mix up with the same practical result. This is quite common. Thus the stepwise approach was never registered nor send out. bluecalm Posted October 10, 2009 Author Report Share Posted October 10, 2009 I found a crude work around which works almost as I want it to.Here it is :a)using find/replace tool in any text editor change all |pc| strings to |pg||pc| one in your chosen .lin fileb)using find/replace tool in any text editor chagne all |mb| strings to |pg||mb| onec)write (or download) application which is always on top and use this to cover chosen hands you don't want to see.d)save .lin file with those changes on your harddrive and run it using bbo hand viewer, don't forget c) Enjoy :) It would be nice to have this functionality hardcoded into bbo viewer but for now if anybody else is interested in this, the work around works :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
