Version 3.7.6 Language indipendent

Recommended Posts

When the final results were diplayed in the movie, there was no % figure displayed left to "Your score". I switched to English and it was still not displayed. The ranking was displayed all right both in German and in English. I completely exited the program then and invoked it again with the English setting, but there was no score again. Seems to be a problem with all languages (I really tried all).

The word "Restrictions" in the tourney information popup is not translated. Should be "Einschränkungen" in German, though everybody would understand "Restrictions", too.

Displaying the first page of "Bridge Base Standard" generates a high system load. Everything becomes normal again after clicking on "Bridge Base Standards System Notes" or when going back to the "Explore Bridge!" display.

The "your score" thing is a client bug. It will be fixed when

the next version is released (looks like that will happen

within the next few days).

The "restrictions" thing comes from the server. Uday handles

this and I will tell him able it.

Thanks for the bug reports.

Here is another suggestion: As I already wrote in the German thread, the translation of skill levels (Beginner, Novice ...) to German resulted in words where the German reader would not be able to tell which level is higher. Probably the same might be true in other languages. Meanwhile, I saw another problem: People are refering to these levels in table descriptions and in chat. Having different level designations in different languages would make this impossible.

So I suggest to either leave the levels in English and do not translate them (preferred), or precede the levels by a Letter (e.g. A:World Class, B:Expert, ... X:Private). Or simply use the letters to specify the Levels and explain the meaning somewhere in the Help or Library.

Great point Mink, I agree with what you said. Some things should remain standardised.....

Unless if someone self designates a skill level in one language, another user using another language sees it in his language?

My computer, WinXP home has always been german. I did not get any message about the language situation nor do I find a place to change the language for any other.

And I did use the upgrade .exe for 3.7.6.

I did not get upgraded?

(And I do rather play in english

abe, selecting the language you like can be done using the dialog invoked by the gear button that includes many other options as well. What you select there remains in effect until you change it. Only the first time you run 3.7.6, when no language yet selected, the setting is taken from the setting of your computer.

I corrected this post (I made the mistake of posting and not double-checking the BBO client). Thank you to Rain for pointing this out.

The language option is only set automatically the first time you install the BBO client. Since most of us have been using BBO for some time, it will not change from whatever setting (usually the default English) that was set.

You can change the setting by going into your Table Settings (click on your cogwheel at the bottom of the screen).

You can change the setting by going into your User Profile (click on your own name).

I think the place to go to change language setting is :

Look down at your bbo screen, you see the little cog symbol. Click that and change settings.

Not 100% sure because I use english keyboard, maybe other language keyboards have additional user profile settings.

Hi Karl,

good point! I've chosen the following solution:

0:Privat

A:Neuling

B:Anfänger

C:Erfahren

D:Fortgeschritten

E:Experte

F:Weltklasse

Any feedback (via mail or forum) will be much appreciated.

New observations:

The word vugraph should also be not translated, because both people and websites refer to is as vugraph - new users would not be able to understand what it means, if they did not find the word vugraph in the software.

McBruce mentioned in the Support Forum that he got a Polish message when subbing. I also got a Polish message when selecting a Polish Partner from the partnership desk. The message was the one that tells you that you are now successfully registered with your partner.

Uday, the customize sound dialog box includes some text which also needs to be translated.

BTW, selected events are not necessarily marked blue -

that depends on the colour scheme the user has selected for his PC.
