LHO leads a small ♣. What is best plan?:- Don't ruff the ♣- Ruff the ♣ lead and play trump...anything else (e.g ruff ♣, and eliminate ♣ , ♦ and ♠ and hope opps have to lead the ♥'s for you.(Who do you play for ♥A ,♥J? kfay
I'd duck the lead and play some spades then make a decision later about the hearts.
peachy
I discard from dummy and later try to limit heart losers to one.
kgr
I wondered if ruffing ♣ and play ♥ (Because no ♥ lead I would play small to Q and finesse LHO for the ♥J) with the intention to play differently depending on losin 1 or 2 ♥'s.:- If only loose one ♥ then develop ♣ and ♠ for 10 tricks.- if loosing 2 ♥'s develop ♠ and ♦ finesse for LHO ♦Qxx...Probably doens't make sense because I will be a trump short in dummy if opps continue ♣
gnasher
An alternative is something like:Club ruff, spade to the king. Say it loses and they return a spade. Now club ruff, spade, club ruff, ♦AK, diamond ruffing low. If we're still alive, ruff the last club with ♥K, hoping to make two tricks from ♥K opposite ♥Q9x. That works well if RHO is longish in clubs and shortish in diamonds.
