What should I do? 3NT or 5♣? It's hard for me to choice. I thought 5♣ is much more possible, maybe we just lose 1♥ and 1♦, finnally, I bidded 5♣, then all Pass. when I saw my p's hand, I was disappointed, his hand was:♠-♥Axx♦Jxx♣AKQxxxx I was sorry to my partner, I should bid 3NT firmly.. Since your partner took a chance with the 3♠ bid your choices are bid 3NT with a ♠ stopper or bid 4♣ without one. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Codo Posted September 23, 2009 Report Share Posted September 23, 2009 Soemtimes your partner asks just a question and needs you not to think too hard, just too answer it. 3♠ was such a question. Of course you are allow to overrule such a question. But you must have very very good reasons to do so. YOu had no good reason. You have a sure spade stopper, you are even able for hold up plays, you have a very balanced hand, so there was no reason to bid 5 Club and overrule partner.
