gnasher
I don't know what partner was doing in the bidding, but I wish he'd just bid his hand instead. Whatever it meant, I don't see why people think that the double of 4♦ meant "lead a diamond against 6♠". Why should partner have known what the final contract was going to be? I lead a club, as the obvious route to beat it. Even if this helps declarer to guess the suit, he was probably going to get it right anyway, once he found out that I was 3-3 in the majors. Jlall
Club, not sure what kind of layout a diamond is catering to.
jdonn
Obv a club. I think a diamond is only right if it holds and we have a slow outside (heart?) trick, which is possible but I don't think very likely, especially the part about the diamond holding. cherdanno
Club, not sure what kind of layout a diamond is catering to. Well, declarer can be 6=5=1=1 (not such an unlikely shape on the bidding), we have a heart trick, and they have ♣AK.I agree with the club though. olliebol
maybe nonsense but south could redouble for free with a d void so d ace

lamford
I led a club, reasoning like JLall that I could not see a layout where a diamond was needed. Dummy was KQxx ATxx xx KQx opposite AJxxx KQxx xx AJ. So I was taken in; the 6S bidder is current holder of the Gold Cup in England, and a many-times international before you ask ... My reasoning was that even though partner had the diamond king, playing her for the ace of clubs, ace of trumps, or well positioned king of trumps was the best chance.
