MattieShoe
These aren't actual hands, I'm just curious what people would do with them. ♠xxxx♥Jxxx♦AKQJ♣K 14 HCP... Do you open? If you do, I assume 1♦... How do you respond to 1NT? How do you respond to 2NT? ♠xxxxxx♥Qx♦KQJ♣AK 15HCP, all in short suits... Do you open? Assuming one opens 1♠, how does one respond to 2♥? Just say 2NT and pray you don't lose a gajillion spades?
P_Marlowe
#1 1D, pass over 1NT. Is game possible? No, we will have at most 24HCP together. Why should I bid on?#2 1S, followed by 2S. Depends a littel bit on the the meaning of 2NT, does 2NT show 12-14 or more, but you have a 6 carder, so why not rebidding the suit, especially if 2NT would show a slightly weaker hand, and 2S not necesarrily promising a 6 carder. Bridge is a easy game most of the time. With kind regardsMarlowe

vuroth
1. 1♦, pass 1NT, raise 2NT to game.2. 1♠, rebid 2♠ Agree. Passing 1NT on hand 1 shouldn't be too awful, as partner should have at least 7 minor suit cards. And by not too awful, I mean no better or worse than most 1NT contracts.
