You have agreed before play to use Stayman, Jacoby w/ 2♠ minor signoff, and Texas. You don't play with this partner often and havn't discussed NT bidding past what I have mentioned.

 

As the Opener what do you think you partners 3 level minor tells you about his hand? Destribution? Points? Is this forcing (one round, game, slam invitational)?

 

 

For fun guess if I was the Opener or the Responder.

My best guess is natural and GF, could be either choice of games or slam interest at this stage. It probably won't be 5332 but could be only a 5 card with some shape. May or may not have a major as well.

 

I'd guess you are responder because if you were opener you would not have passed so there would be no story.

3m is natural, showing a 5-4 hand.

 

Espesially since you play 2S as minor sign off, i.e.

responder cant have the weak hand with a long

minor.

What is direct 3m? It can change the meaning although it doesn't have to.

It's suit and forcing, that's for sure imho. Although I have played it as invitational from passed hand so it's possible.

Most play a direct 3m as invitational so this must be forcing and does not promise a four-card major as it is the only way to force with a minor.

 

If a direct 3m is forcing you will have to discuss what this means as it is not obvious.

Without discossuion this is natural and gameforcing and this does not depend on anything else.
