I alwas thought that you raise with 3 card support on any given opportunity. And now, where even I would, you chicken out and bid 3 Club on this suit?

It was a client, wasn't it?

I bid 4 Heart now. Partner is a big favourite to be 3532.

I can not bring myself to pass 3N where I might go down when I have a shot at 6C for the same money. This 3C bid was not my best choice, but I will continue onward. Give dear pard AD and Kx C along with his QH I am one who would greatly prefer to play 6C rather than 3N.

He would very often bid 3 with such a hand.

Why did the opps not bid more than 1D then?

Maybe they did not have sufficent values? Overcaller maybe something like 12 HCPs with a 3361 and his partner 3 HCPS with 5233?

Partner did not double, I guess he had done so with 34xy, but maybe this is more the French style then the American way.

So I give him 3541 or 3532 a hand where a double or a NT bid would not show the hand.

Ill bid 4h. This seems like a hand that might play much better in hearts even if partner has good diamonds and only 4h. It could be wrong when partner has a poor hand with a double diamond stop, but when he has a better hand surely the extra control a trump suit gives you.

Incidentally its important to know the agreement for 3d and 3s - are they stop showing? And can partner bid 3h on a 5 card suit in your methods? There seems to me to be no reason why partner could not put down

And now 3N has almost no play, while 4h has chances. Even if I add the K of spades, 3N still has almost no play? (needs both diamond honours onside?). It also feels to me that every time I think about bidding 4h here and then don't because he might have a 4 card suit, i regret it.

I'm sort of amazed at all the passes here. I think 4 or 5/ is a still a good target, even at MPs. I also think its very possible pard has a single diamond stop and one club card, which rates to be awful for 3N. Furthermore, how often will we take exactly 9 tricks in 3N? Not very often I'd say.

I bid 4. Pard held: Kxx Txxx, QJx, AKJ (heavy 3N call?) and retreated to 4N. They didn't cash both diamond tops so we scored up 490. I was hoping for xxx Jxxxx Axx Ax

We had talked about a 4 call, which should imply heart support, don't you think? He also said we'd get to 6. Maybe.
