gwnn
KQxxx-AxxxAJxx partner is weak. he is a sound opener but he doesn't know the first thing about bidding. he opens 1♥ you bid 1♠ and he bids 2♦. it's matchpoints. it's not 100% guaranteed that partner knows what 4sf is but you may try it. What's your plan? What would your plan be if partner were strong and a normal opener? etc?
aguahombre
is there enough time while you are thinking about it to cash his check?
TylerE
At MP with a weak partner I bid 3NT.
TimG
it's not 100% guaranteed that partner knows what 4sf is but you may try it. Surely he will know that 3♣ is forcing even if it is not conventional.
peachy
3C, no matter who sits opposite. Even a complete novice understands that new suits by responder, at the three level, are forcing - even if a novice might not know that 3C there is often artificial 4sf. gnasher
What would your plan be if partner were strong and a normal opener? etc? I'd bid 3♣, FSF, planning to follow it with 4♦ over any reply. There's too much chance of slam making to stop in 3NT, and this is the sort of hand where 5♦ makes and 3NT doesn't have enough tricks. The idea of bidding 3♣ first is that it may help me to judge whether to bid slam later.

shevek
3NT. Diamonds may not go so well, MPs, you play better, auction not over, etc.
Jlall
3C and see what happens. 3N is completely hopeless, if you bid 3C and partner bids 3S do you really want to play in 3N? lol. At the very least the possibility of a 3S bid should cause you to bid 3C. I am going to bid 4D unless partner bids 3H over 3C. That would turn me off enough. mtvesuvius
3♣ for now... 3NT seems quite awful.
