vitorlopes
You have: ♠AJx♥QJx♦Jxx♣J109x You are playing in MP and your partner opens 1♥ in 1st position. Which bid would you choose? a ) 2♥ (constructive raise 8-10); orb ) 1NT (forcing 1 round) aiming to jump in ♥ on your next turn
andy_h
2♥ for sure, especially in matchpoints. 4333 is bad, jacks about which is also bad and given that we are playing constructive raises I see this as an easy 2♥ bid! Although there may be attractive sides in that there are supporting honours of AJ QJ JT9 but the negative factors are just too much. If people are in 2/3♥ maybe we can outplay them. aguahombre
2H, even if not defined as a constructive raise.
kenrexford
This is not even a legitimate question. Who bids limit with that junk?

The quacks are soft values and you are subject to losing 4 tricks unless partner has xtras to compensate.
ONEferBRID
2HIn terms of LTC it is at least 9, which means partner would have to hve a very big hand for game ( LTC of about 5 ).
P_Marlowe
a), it could even be argued, that this is a min hand for this call. With kind regardsMarlowe

neilkaz
2H, even if not defined as a constructive raise. Agreed !! The duck it goes "quack quack" and no ruffing values. With 4333 be conservative. I had this type of hand the other day, and not playing constructive and the 2♥ contract was totally hopeless. Tola18
There are 3 extra advantages for these 2H: 1. partner can invite. IF partner invites, we can - and probably will - accept.2. Im not revealing his hand either.3. If partner has minimum, 2H will be enough, while 3H may be too high. If I bid the limit-sequence and if he has some extras, he must guess. As this is almost minimum-10 pointer, his quess will probably be unhappy...It is only if he has big extras, the adventure will surely end well. But if he has big extras, it will also end well after 2H. Constructive or ambiqious.
