Your bid now?

(4H)  4S  (P)  ?

You hold:

Axx

xxxx

AJx

AQx

If you bid 4S cue, pd bids 5H showing 1st round control!

You can not bid 4 over 4, but you can cue-bid 5

The alternative is to invite or bid slam by raising directly

To cue-bid 5 assumes you would never want to correct a 4 contract to 5 after this sequence; a dubious proposition.

Assuming you cue-bid 5:

OVER 5 invite a grand with 6

If partner signs off with 6 pass. You can hardly underwrite 13 tricks

If he bids 6 accept and bid 7

If the opponents are NV, maybe it's safer to check with 5 to get partner to bid slam with 2nd round control in hearts in case LHO has like 6-5. But then again if partner had Kx RHO's going to lead their singleton heart and get a ruff anyway, so I think I'll just bid keycard. Bidding 5x now for me is the same as if partner had opened 4, that is, asking for 2nd round control in that suit. So I'm not exactly taking control, but I just want to show partner if we have all the keycards or not, and if not I'm just going to bid slam.

In any case, from our hand it is very likely that partner is short in hearts, he may have a void, and he was bidding 4 over 4. We should give him a lot of leeway. Playing with 655321 I still have a slam force, but I am very minimum for that.

Minimum?
