vitorlopes
Your hand in first position: ♠ KQ74♥ K9876♦ AQ♣ 42 You are non vulnerable against opps vulnerable. Your partnership plays 2/1 system with positive trial bids. You open 1♥ and your partner makes a constructive raise (8-10 HCP) to 2♥. What do you bid (no bidding from opps)? a ) Passb ) Trial Bidc ) 4♥d ) any other bid PS: Flannery bidders give me a break...
Fluffy
It is close but I like to pass an MPs, vulnerable at IMPs migth invite. a supperfitting hand like ♠A+♥A will have loads of toruble in game. Something like ♠Ax ♥Jxx ♦Kxx ♣Qxxxx will give you no chance at all and you are probably down at the 3 level.
rhm
While there may be a few hands where game could be reasonable a) is clear at any vulnerability and form of scoring. Rainer Herrmann
gnasher
I don't think this is worth a move. As Fluffy says, game needs a perfect maximum - Ax AQx xxxx xxxx - and even then it's not cold. Something like ♠Ax ♥Jxx ♦Kxx ♣Qxxxx will give you no chance at all and you are probably down at the 3 level. It would be a bit unlucky to go down in 3♥ with that. If I can hold my trump losers to two, I'll have nine tricks.
Codo
I invite. Too many 8 point hands where game is icecold. At imps, I would bid game.

gwnn
I'll pass regardless of scoring. It is a close decision in the sense that with another card I'd probably try for game sometimes.

We definitely don't want partner inputting his judgement so let us bid his hand for him :)

I'd have thought that "8-10" is a sufficiently narrow range that it can include all balanced 10-counts. You don't get extra points for 3♠= rather than 2♠+1. Fluffy
depends on the style, if you frecuently upgrade 6-7 counts with 4 trumps or A+K, you might wanna go through 1NT + 3♥ with that hand.
Phil
Certainly close, but I'll pass. Move the ♦Q to trump and I'll make a try. Bidding game on this is ludicrous.

Does this mean, that I may overbid a little?

peachy
Option a) is best in general, MPS to boot. Opener being first seat not-vul versus vul, this hand might invite since some openers in that position and vulnerability could be really gross if the partnership plays that style; this is top of range minimum opener. effervesce
Pass. Game is extremely remote.
nigel_k
A definite pass. It's not a very good 5422 with only one ace, no tens, and so much in one of the doubletons. A better hand such as KQ10x AJxxx Ax xx would be ok to invite vulnerable at IMPS but not otherwise.
aguahombre
any bets this is the companion hand to ajx qjx jxx jtxx which we had on the other string? oops...same OP. hmm didn't know portugal was in same time zone as Michigan. I guess I am confused.
ceblair
I would rule out a trial bid because I don't want to discourage a diamond lead.If partner really will not have 7HCP or less for his bid (not my favorite system)I will bid 4H.
