4 is typically a weak 64 for me, with weak diamonds, obviously if partner has Ax and A slam will be playable, but if not....

I won't move.

But if moving, at first I though 5 was the right way to move on, so that partner knows his spade shortness is the key.

But now I think that the correct move is 4NT instead, partner might blow 6 of 2 aces otherwise based on good diamonds wich we don't care much about, and Ax might be good enough to take care of the suit. Waht we really need is 3 cards from A, K, A, A. Partner won't ever know how worthless KQJ Q are

Yes unless partner is one of those who will open one and then jump to game with weak distributional hands.

In my partnership this jump to 4 shows real values and denies a shortage. I have a few extra values and extra trumps which will be extra tricks.

The five-level should be safe and even it not is worth the risk of finding a good slam.

I bid 5 to deny a spade control and show a club control..

I agree that partners most possible hand is around a 3442 with around 19 HCPs.

So Akx, Kxxx,AKxx,Qx or similar makes slam quite good. KQJ, QJxx,AKQx,Jx puts 5 in danger.

Anyway, I make a move. But I am not sure which one. I guess I try RCKB. The chance that they can cash two spades seems to be lower then the chance that they can cash two KCs.

:) Pass

This could be wrong, but I gotta play the percentages. Pard's Q is wasted as are his honors other than the ace (most likely). He didn't splinter or show solid . Good partners almost never have a stiff on this auction. Even an old fashioned "point count" analysis gives me 11 or 12 "dummy points" opposite pard's 20 - not quite enough. I can construct hands where 6 is a flop:

AK

KQxx

J9xx

AQx

but it takes a bit of thought. As brother Bob says, "If it takes the magic hand to make slam, DON'T TRY FOR IT".
