phil_20686
-KJT98xxxxAQxx- You are in 3rd at vul vs not, and the auction comes round to you:2c 4s ? Partners 2c was precision style, showing 11-16 and 6+ clubs or 5clubs 4M. Your bid?
kenrexford
I have a special gadget for 0940 hands after partner opens a Precision 2♣ and RHO overcalls 4♠. I'm glad that you did mention that this was 3rd seat, and that we are vulnerable against not, as this special gadget is different for each seat and different for each vulnerability. There are actually 16 versions of this gadget, therefore, although this rarely comes up when fourth seat opens 2♣. However, I also vary the special gadget depending on whether this is IMP, MP, or BAM scoring. You really need to give more info in your posts if you want good answers. phil_20686
Its actually BAM scoring, but i would be interested to know what ppl would do at IMPs on the same hand. Sorry I should have included that. Not sure what other information you need?

Sorry I should have included that. Not sure what other information you need? Well, at BAM scoring, at these colors, in this seat, I would assume that most people play this auction as calling for the Xango 4NT call. LHO is obliged to double, according to the agreement, and partner passes or redoubles, depending on whether he does or does not have at least a void in hearts. If he redoubles, I bid 5♥. If he passes, then I redouble, asking him if he has either eight clubs or four diamonds. If he has neither, he converts the redouble for penalties. Strangely, this usually makes. the hog
I guess 6H.
Cascade
I had a look at a few hands under these conditions: Partner has 11-15 with 6+ clubs or 5 clubs and a 4-card major LHO has 7+ spades and some values On the hands that I looked at it was pretty close between 5♥ and 6♥, slightly in favour of 6♥. There was also the occasional hand where 7♥ made. Partner isn't going to raise to 6♥ if we bid 5♥ very often. So I think we need to take the tough decision. WesleyC
Wayne: I think getting to play this hand in ANY number of hearts (making) is likely to win the BAM. When you simmed, what were the opponents making?
Cascade
I did not save the hands. I only looked at a few so eyeballing them to see what you could make. You will have to trust my judgement but it wasn't necessarily thorough. The next ten I looked where like this: Two hands where Spades made one - hearts made five and six One hand where spades made two - hearts made five Five hands where spades made three - hearts made three once, five twice and six twice Two hands where spades made four - hearts made five and seven This is a very small sample. In this sample five was slightly ahead of six. I did another (third) similar sample where almost every hand made six but I realized afterwards that I had misanalysed (blind spot that I figured out about the third or fourth time i saw the same position) some of the hands. Again I hadn't saved those so I just started again.

rd6789
ridiculous hand - all my gadgets only work on 8-5's ;) - so I'll try 6H
effervesce
6♥ for me. They might decide to bid 6♠ over it anyway.
gwnn
richard are you sure your 8-5 gadgets don't work for 9-4's? :) I'd 6♥ and 7♥ over their expected 6♠. I suppose that's a bit much but I have no idea how to bid with TWO voids. (of which one is in their trump suit)
