However, I am trying to get the full picture and to deal with details of this system. In particular, I'd like to understand better some points of slam cuebidding once a major fit has been found. The system uses (see article to the link for further details):- serious 3NT- Last Train to Clasrksville- Lackwood- cuebidding of own suit to show 2 top honors- cuebidding of pard suit to show 1 top honor (may ne the Q)- cuebids in unbid suits are "mixed" (1st/2nd round controls)- new suit at 5 level is Exclusion RKCBm, so no cuebids are available at the 5 level. In particular I am curious about the latter point:I wonder whether eliminating the possibility to show total control in a suit (by repeating the cue at level 5) may lead to some missed grands (especially since cues are of the mixed type). Hi Mauro, We play all of the gadgets you mention, and have never found the above to be the case. The combiniation of 1st and 2nd round cues together with RKC means that htere is practically never any ambiguity.However, be warned! Flame Posted June 8, 2004 Report Share Posted June 8, 2004 HiYou wont go down in grands since you will always check for aces before bidding a grand.The macanism works like that, you cue bid under 4nt to check if you're missing a control of a suit, then when you know you dont, you will ask for aces, this is done with almost any unlimited hand , since this is your only way to check if a grand exist, you cant just bid six. A problem with losing the ability of a 5 level cue bid is losing the ability to continue showing interest and extend "feeling" of the hand, you dont have the way to say , i like my hand abit more then i already showed you.In my opining this lost is very minor, for 2 main ressons, a. you usually dont need it, and b. long cue bidding sessions are very complex, take lots of understanding of the bidding, good evaluation of what you have opposite to what partner know you have. since they come up rarly you wont be ready for them. Trutone Posted July 5, 2004 Report Share Posted July 5, 2004 I like to play that once both hands have made a cue bid Blackwood becomes redundant and a bid of 4NT is a trump cue, showing Ace or King of trumps and requests further cue bids from partner.
