gnasher
South wasn't too pushy: he can make a grand slam opposite a 12-count. However, I think he should make better use of the available space. 5♦-5♥-5♠ seems obvious. North's 7♥ is awful with so much spade wastage. cherdanno
Well, 5♠ certainly shows first round control, typically a void. North knows it is a void, and has no business bidding 7H with a working 7-count.South's 5♠ bid was on the aggressive side but not unreasonable. OleBerg
North 112%.
hotShot
Whatever South intended 5♠ to mean, it did not promise all lower 1st round controls. 100% North

I'd expect 5♠ to have been exclusion. Jumping directly to 7♥ in response is extremely BAD.
Phil
This auction mystifies me, but its symptomatic of newer players that get a superfit and a void in the opponents suit and overreact. 5♦ is clear. 7♥ is an abortion. 6N by north is so money here at MPs. Absolutely agree. It seems that everyone is on the same wavelength here, so this should not be too much of a problem. By the way, the 7♥ bid (besides being incredibly bad for so many other reasons) goes against a basic principal - do not bid a grand slam on speculation. There is no way that North could count 13 tricks on this auction.
WesleyC
Agree with everyone. 5S is a slight overbid. 7H is pants-on-head retarded. :)

SriNT
Whats ATB/WTP etc? Any page that explains the abbreviations used on the site? Thanks.
WesleyC
"Assign The Blame" and "What's The Problem?" A page of abbreviations would be cheating - more fun to learn them yourself :)
Free
Is this really ATB, or rather a "help me prove South did something wrong"? North bidding grand without a useful Ace is ridiculous. I blame North.
Fluffy
wtf, I always though ATB stood for analyse the board lol.
kayin801
Related question on this auction: is there any merit to a pass by south at turn 2? (if you invite a cue) 5D(cue)-5H-6H also fine by me. (On original sequence, I kinda like 5S, especially if it's exclusion, but the next bid by N is 6D if he must cue, and 6H is better, 7H is terrible)
Cascade
What has north got that he did not show with the 2NT bid? 7♥ is incredibly optimistic

aguahombre
yep....south looks like forcing pass after J2N, which I hate but it did not contribute to the disaster. 7H bid is the 114 percent culprit....the remaining 25 percent goes to south.
