MsPetey
2) if you play Robot tourneys - robots are lightening fast - unable to watch play/hand (advised you have to go to results page - when watching live should be available at the time); When you rent them for a table on on 1st/month, they are 1) SLOWER THAN MOLASSES - I don't have that patience in a live game; 2) ROBOTS make horrendous bids & steal the contracts away from you & your sitting again WAITING ! ! ! Rain
When you're renting the bot, you can choose their speed. Click on GIB and choose the speed you desire. Slower = more simulations = "smarter" gib.
Apollo81
Perhaps the original poster was trying to say that she is unable to find a setting in table games where the robots both play reasonably well and at a reasonable pace (as they do in tourneys). I know you can adjust the bar, but I have been unable to find that "magic point" either. Perhaps BBO should set the default play speed at tables to = what it is in the tourneys, or provide a checkbox somewhere that sets the bar in this manner. When you play a robot tourney, GIb analysis and simulation is done in an outside server, but when you are at a main bridge club table, it uses your computer's CPU (in the windows client). If your computer is slower than BBO's servers, you will never achieve the same performance. BBO may set the marks for the reasonable play level though, but the play time will depend on the user's computer for the same level of play. helene_t
Funny, my experience is the opposite. If I run locally, it will take about two seconds to play a hand, if I play a tourney it will often think some five secs about a single bid or play. I think web client also uses outside servers when you play with gibs in the main bridge club but the play speed setting is set so fast that you can easily play more than 100 boards per hour and you will have a score advantage over the field (app 1 imp per board on average) that uses their own computers because robots make more mistakes.
