What is your favorite beverage?

For non-alcoholic I'm faithful to ice water with a twist of citrus.

Alcoholic, I'm partial to Cape Codders, which were my grandfather's favorite before he passed away. He used to drink one every night an hour or so after dinner.

I'm always up for trying new things, if anyone has a suggestion they feel strongly about recommending.

I like Irish coffee best I think (but no whipped cream ty). Of course in the summer I love beer. Also in Romania and Hungary we have a quite strong (50% or more alcohol) drink from prune or peaches. I think the technical word is brandy.

Non alcoholic I like pepsi. I drink lots of it when I play, it makes me concentrate at least a little. Oh and Earl Grey tea is the best (no sugar, no lemon, no milk).

non-alcoholic refreshment >>> bitter lemon

alcoholic >>>> single malt's on the rocks

( As I logged for the first time ever into a polish bridge site 10 years ago, I drank Aberlour Highland Malt with my friend, I chose this nickname as a joke.... and I keep it till now  )

Sixty years ago I would ride my bicycle downtown (in St. Paul) to buy a malt at Bridgemann's. They are still in business, when I am in the Twin Cities I still go there, their malts are still great.

Day to day I drink water, coffee, wine in descending order of quantity. I like the coffee black, absolutely no vanilla flavoring or any such thing. Lattes are pretty much wasted on me but some frozen coffee mixtures are ok.

I like a variety of wine, but zinfandel was the first wine I had other than the stuff my parents made from the grapes in the back yard so it remains a sentimental favorite.

I like scotch and bourbon, but as with malts I pretty much lay off for calorie reasons.

I like beer and used to drink much more of it than I do now. We are meeting friends at a Belgian restaurant Tuesday and I imagine I will help their bottom line by drinking their over-priced Belgian beer.

A story: In St. Paul in the 50's the legal age for beer drinking was 21. There was this pizza place out a ways that would sell us beer when we were 19 or so. I figured we were pretty clever until a kid in a Little League uniform walked up to the bar, ordered a beer and got it. I realized the fix was in. I also go back there (Carbone's) when I am in town but it's not the same sort of place. Very antiseptic. Pity. It was then some of the best pizza I have ever had.

I like apple juice, and coca-cola. What I mostly feel the need of is liquid cold with sugar taste, so many things can do it.

Alcoholic, I like many things, I mostly drink whiskey but for social reasons. At night I try to get drinks that mix with cola, so I can get some caffeine in.

This one is fun if you like ginger: Juice 2 apples, 6 strawberries, 1/2 oz (15g) ginger, 3 ice cubes. From Audrey Alsterberg & Wanda Urbanowicz's restaurant cookbook.

This one sound really good.

I'm going to need to try it

On the booze front, I drink lots of beer and sake

Sake wise, I like the dewazakura double dai-ginjos.

On the beer front, my favorite brewer is currently Dogfish Head. (Most everything they do is brilliant)

I love soda, especially ginger beer. But I stopped drinking soda 2 weeks ago.

Diet soda actually makes me sick, especially coke zero, but i can drink several evryday.

I like juices but that is too much sugar.

I might start making my own ginger beer, it is easy, I made some before, to compensate for the sodas.

And i am a heavy tea drinker.

I truly do hate milk shakes-- I was forced to drink them as a child, hate it , hate it.

Palinka is not really similar to brandy in my experience. I can drink two servings of brandy and be relatively buzzed. One shot of palinka is enough for me for the night. Two and I'm sick. But it's very good. Unicom took MUCH more getting used to. Still won't drink that for pleasure, just for the novelty and challenge of getting it down.

I think that my favorite alcoholic drink is cranberry juice with vodka. I am not picky about the proportions. I have no idea if this has a name or not.

Favorite non-alcoholic drink: Diet Coke

I don't agree ;)

Sitting in a strand cafe at the belgian sea-front, working through the beer card, starting with Leffe Blonde, later Westmalle Tripel, Chimay Bleue or Rochefort>>>>I know, I'm in God's own country B)

Robert,

I'll write down these suggestions. My reference to price refers only to local price.

On further thought, take a look:

Any that you would recommend?

I'm a big fan of Tripels.

Delerium Tremens is great, but its easy to find so I'd recommend trying something else

BTW< this looks like the type of restaurant that I'd love.

I'm quite envious...

I like distilled water. It just tastes sweeter somehow. Normal boiled water tastes flat.

Also, fruit juices of all kinds. Fresh ones, not smoothies, but say, squeezed from apples or oranges or watermelons.

Finally, drinks with some herbal or tea bent. Like Crysanthumum tea popular in SE Asia, iced green/black tea, herbal but sweetened tea.
