Mirjam_3
I know some tournaments are not good and maybe i am oldfashioned since i think a td has to do certain stuff like telling the players before they start to play what are the rules… and i dont even mention here style... In a 4-boards tournament i was player and at the last minute of the first round the td told us next… td->Tournament: OK, just to preempt the situation,… I cant do adjustments, first person to ask me for an ...td->Tournament: adjustment gets kicked out the tourney hahaha, I mean that as well ->: i think if u dont make adjusts u sd announce that dear td(Lobby): I just did lol->: before people register->: now we are yr prisoner: hehe you will never escape->: yes and that i dont think is ethicaltd: what is not ethical->: to tell yr rules when we are in it and not before we registertd: it is only a bit of fun ->: that is not the point we r misinformed At board 4 we needed to play one more card (no time was added) so i tried to reach the td: ->Mirjam_3: Automated message: Only authorized users (usually, support staff and directors) can chat to a tournament in progress He was playing now so i cd not reach him and the board went out with last card unplayed. The td announced the winners immediately and that was it. ->: and now i cd not reach u to ask to raise time.. do u really think this was a fun tournament? td (Lobby): grow up you silly woman, dont play in these ones again then->: i wonttd (Lobby): good suits me
Frosty
Yikes!!! (After long neglect I am trying to catch up on Forums and have a headache from all I've read to this point) I agree wholeheartedly Mirjam! Tournaments, once set up, will run themselves without a TD present. It sounds to me like this TD might have set up a tournament so that (s)he would have a game to play in. Can't explain or excuse the rudeness though :) . TD's really should clearly state the terms of their games in the description of the tournament. The following idiosycracies should - out of common courtesy - be stated in the tournament description when the game is posted on the tournament list: - The Director(s) plan to be participants in the game - The Director(s) do not plan to do substitutions but expect the players to do this - The Directo(s) do not plan to offer adjustments Honestly, I don't know why the TD would be needed at all if all three of these are true, but every TD is entitled to do their own thing. If a TD doesn't isn't providing substitution and/or adjustments for lack of training, we should once again make it known that there are MANY TD's who are on record as being willing and available to help newer TD's learn the skills they need. If you need help learning these skills - JUST ASK :D I'd like to think that all TD's are a credit to the TD community, but like all other groups of diverse peoples, there will be weak links. They will no doubt identify themselves fairly quickly. Frosty
