cRi cRi
[hv=s=sa6hak9852d64c964]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Partner deal and it goes :1♦ 1♥2♠ 3♥3♠ ... What do you bid ? 2♠ showed at least 5-4 with a game forcing hand.3♠ , well, we had no agrement, does it show 5♠ or can it be with 4252 or 2153 with no ♣ stoper ? You tell me . Phil
Too deep for me if 3♠ shows AKQx x AKQxx, xxx. Pretty hard to construct these hands and they might raise to 4♥ anyway. Kokish might disagree (or K-Rex for that matter). 5-6 makes more sense. How else can you show this? Do I really have to bid spades a third time? cRi cRi
ok ... so what do you bid ? Is 4♠ enough?
Phil
ok ... so what do you bid ? Is 4♠ enough? No I would bid 4♦. Partner will get tapped to shreds in 4♠ with club leads.
cRi cRi
4♦ being stronger than 5♦ here ? is that clear ? Or could it show a difference between a real fit and a semi one.
pooltuna
4♠ Partner ought to be 5x6x with good pointy suit cards. He might be able to ruff the 3rd♦ with the A♠ and draw trump with KQJT

Well since you hold the ♠A hard for him to hold that hand at worst I would expect KQJxx - AKJxxx xx and it would be a misbid when he had a chance to bid 1♠. In retrospect a 5♠ call [i originally thought 4♠ would be enough], asking for 2nd round club control, may be appropriate for this auction

Make the hand KQJx, x, AKQxx, Axx then (not wanting to wrong side 3N). I hope you agree its 5-6 as well. What misbid are you referring to? The failure to open 1♠ with a strong 5-6? Phil
to rebid 1♠ over partner's 1♥ So we can play 1♠ when pard has a 2 or 3 loser hand?
pooltuna
to rebid 1♠ over partner's 1♥ So we can play 1♠ when pard has a 2 or 3 loser hand? I'm sorry I missed where I said the bidding was idiot proof
OleBerg
to rebid 1♠ over partner's 1♥ So we can play 1♠ when pard has a 2 or 3 loser hand?Well, it's not uncommon, at A/E level, to play 1♦ - 1♥, 1♠ as a one-round force.
benlessard
Either i have the agreement that partner will always bid 2Nt if hes got something in clubs (even with super long H) or 3S show half a club stopper. Anyway 4D seems clear cut for now. If partner doesnt have a club control we will play 5D othewise 6D or 7D.
P_Marlowe
ok ... so what do you bid ? Is 4♠ enough? No. You have at least 3 sure tricks for p, vs. a game force I am driving to slam. And 4S is nonforcing, after all I only showed a 6th heart with 3H, and I could still hold only 6HCP. What to bid: No idea. But maybe it would have been a better idea, if you would have bid 3C instead 3H, this would have clarified partnersshape, and you would still have heard, if he happens to hold3 hearts. Now I would say, you have to bid 4D, which is forcing, showingreal slam interest. Maybe partners next bid will enlighten me, happens not often, but why not this time. With kind regardsMarlowe
Fluffy
4♦ no second option this time, we need a suit to play slam, and diamonds is at least as good as hearts.
